Background:

The Government of Nigeria through the National AIDS/STIs Control Programme (NASCP) is responsible for the health sector response to HIV control in Nigeria, under the Federal Ministry of Health. As part of our vision to ensure sustained epidemic control in-country, NASCP is implementing a 5-year Government-to-Government grant funded by the United States Centre for Disease Control (US-US-CDC) and it is called the Nigeria Sustainability & HIV Impact Project (NSHIP).

Responsibilities:

<ul> <li>Drive assigned vehicles safely and responsibly and provide reliable and safe transportation.</li> <li>Plan and choose the most efficient routes for transportation, taking into account traffic, road conditions, and deadlines.</li> <li>Ensure the safety of all passengers by enforcing the use of seat belts, adhering to safety protocols and compliance with all traffic laws and organizational policies.</li> <li>Maintain accurate records of all trips, vehicle mileage, and fuel consumption, including start and end times, destinations, and purposes.</li> <li>Perform regular vehicle inspections and maintenance checks and report any accidents, vehicle issues, or safety concerns promptly.</li> <li>Timely transporting staff and visitors and delivering and collecting documents/ packages from various locations.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the vehicle and report any accidents, near-misses, or incidents immediately, following organizational protocols.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Exhibit a high standard of professionalism and ethical behavior while representing the organization.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Participate in ongoing training sessions related to safe driving, defensive driving, and vehicle maintenance.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Utilize technology for navigation and communication, including GPS systems and organizational software.</li> <li>Be available for unscheduled trips or changes in schedule as required by the organization.</li> <li>Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisors.</li> </ul>

Qualifications & Skills:

<ul> <li>Relevant qualifications or training courses; Typically, vocational degree&nbsp;</li> <li>A valid driver&rsquo;s license appropriate for the vehicle class.</li> <li>Proven experience as a driver.</li> <li>Knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations.</li> <li>Good interpersonal and communication skills.</li> <li>Ability to navigate using GPS and maps.</li> <li>Basic vehicle maintenance skills&nbsp;</li> <li>Ability to integrate and work well within multi-ethnic and multicultural team</li> </ul>

Deliverables:

<ul> <li>The primary responsibility of the Driver is to ensure that NASCP/NSHIP staff or goods movements are performed in a safe and secure manner.&nbsp;</li> <li>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to familiarize him/herself with the local area and planned journey route prior to departure, particularly regarding any security issues.</li> </ul>
